For: Amateur Naturalists wanting to learn about Amphibians. Any nature lover who wants to be introduced to the world of frogs and toads. Young Naturalists, 12+ who have had some prior naturalist training.

This July, Bamboo Rustles takes you to the rainforests of Honey Valley/Chingaara to learn about the various species of frogs and toads that reside in Western Ghats. Acompanying us, will be Dr KV Gururaja, an amphibian scientist with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and author of the recently published book - 'A Pictorial Guide to the Frogs and Toads of the Western Ghats. He will be able to give us a close up view and a qualified understanding of the several species of frogs that live in the area. The forest is also home to several species of birds, butterflies, reptiles and insects.
This is what our expedition looks like:
We embark on the trip with on Thursday morning and reach Honey Valley by late afternoon. Our camp there is surrounded by the rainforests and is a great place to really see nature at its best!
We shall be going out in the nights with our torches looking for frogs and in the day we shall have a few sessions going over various amphibian life forms, identifications, habitat and behavior. Other activities include Bird Watching, Star Gazing etc.
