Dates: July 4th to July 6th, 2014
An amazing opportunity for nature enthusiasts to go frogging with Dr K.V. Guraraja at Honey Valley in the Western Ghats. Dr Gururaja is not only a great teacher but very down to earth and friendly person to be around. We had a fantastic experience
last year finding, identifying and learning about various species.
Location: Honey Valley/Chingaara, Virajpet
This July, Bamboo Rustles takes you to the rainforests of Honey Valley/Chingaara to learn about the various species of frogs and toads that reside in Western Ghats. Acompanying us, will be Dr KV Gururaja, an amphibian scientist with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and author of - 'A Pictorial Guide to the Frogs and Toads of the Western Ghats. He will be able to give us a close up view and a qualified understanding of the several species of frogs that live in the area. The forest is also home to several species of birds, butterflies, reptiles and insects.
This is what our expedition looks like:
We embark on the trip with on Friday morning and reach Honey Valley by late afternoon. Our camp there is surrounded by the rainforests and is a great place to really see nature at its best!
We shall be going out in the nights with our torches looking for frogs and in the day we shall have a few sessions going over various amphibian life forms, identifications, habitat and behavior.
